We wanted to let you know that the fall semester of the MES Spanish Club will begin the first full week of September (aka, the week of September 2nd, keeping in mind that Monday, September 3rd is a holiday), and will meet after school from 2:15-3:00pm. Students must be picked up no later than 3:15pm. If your child is not picked up by 3:15pm, they will be sent to Little Colts after-school care, for which you will be billed (their drop-in fee is $20).

The club is open to all 2nd and 3rd graders. Spanish Club will be broken up into different levels, depending on how much prior knowledge the student has, whether this is their first time learning Spanish or they’ve already had 1-2 semesters of Spanish Club! Forms must be turned in no later than Wednesday, August 29th. The finalized Spanish Club schedule will be sent home Friday, August 31st.

There will be a new student fee of $10 that will go toward paying for club snacks/materials, in addition to granting your child access to MUZZY, which is a language learning program for kids; the videos tell a story that helps to teach children a new language. MUZZY Club gives a year’s worth of access to these videos, in addition to games that let your child practice what they’ve learned. With MUZZY Club, your child has access to several different languages in addition to Spanish, which means if they are also interested in learning French, Italian, German, Chinese, or Korean, they are able to do that as well!

Continued participation in the club will depend on the student’s participation and good behavior. Spanish Club rules/policies are found on the back of this paper.

The club will be led by our very own Media Specialist, Miss Hopkins, who has studied Spanish for 7 years, in addition to having experience as a foreign language teacher.

So, if your child is interested in Spanish fun, learning, music, and games, be sure to sign up for the MES Spanish Club!
