We wanted to let you know about a new after-school club that will be starting up quite soon!

The first semester of the MES German Club will begin on Thursday, September 6, and will meet after school from 2:15-3:00pm. Students must be picked up no later than 3:15pm. If your child is not picked up by 3:15pm, they will be sent to Little Colts after-school care, for which you will be billed (their drop-in fee is $20).

The club is open to all students in grades 2-5, but space is limited, so be sure to sign up early. The club will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Forms must be turned in no later than Thursday, August 30. The finalized German Club list will be sent home Tuesday, September 4. There will be a new student fee of $10 that will go toward paying for club snacks/materials, in addition to granting your child access to MUZZY, which is a language learning program for kids; the videos tell a story that helps to teach children a new language. MUZZY Club gives a year’s worth of access to these videos, in addition to games that let your child practice what they’ve learned. With MUZZY Club, your child has access to several different languages in addition to German, which means if they are also interested in learning Spanish, French, Italian, Chinese, or Korean, they are able to do that as well!

Continued participation in the club will depend on the student’s participation and good behavior. German Club rules/policies are found on the back of this paper.

The club will be led by our very own 5th grade teacher, Ms. Winkler, who is a native German speaker, assisted by our Media Specialist, Miss Hopkins, who studied German in college, in addition to having experience as a foreign language teacher.

So, if your child is interested in German fun, learning, music, and games, be sure to sign up for the MES German Club!
