picture of a sun with sunglasses reading a book next to the words "Summer Reading"Another great school year is in the books and summer is here! We wanted to do a little something different this year for our Summer Reading Program – a Summer Reading Scavenger Hunt! There are some great activities on our Summer Reading Treasure Map. After completing an activity, parents will need to initial the box. Try to complete as many activities as you can. The following prizes will be awarded for completing the activities:

5 activities: Dr. Seuss Sticker

10 activities: Dr. Seuss Sticker and a Pencil

15 activities: Dr. Seuss Sticker, a Pencil, and a Bookmark

20 activities: Dr. Seuss Sticker, a Pencil, a Bookmark, and a Surprise!

25 activities: AWESOME JOB! Goody Bag filled with great prizes!

Make this something fun for the whole family. Our MAP results reveal a trend of students’ reading scores dropping during the summer months. All children should continue to read and talk about books throughout the summer!
Additional reading logs can be found on the school’s website and Facebook page. Don’t forget to take pictures of your family doing these fun activities together and post to our school’s Facebook page! Make sure to use the hashtag #mesfamiliesread and tag Merriwether Elementary School when you post.

Forms are due August 31, 2018.

Happy Reading!
